We’ve been meeting under the tree at 6th Avenue & Laurel Street for 40 years!  Don’t be bashful – come meet some new friends.  

Weeknight Runs:  Tuesdays & Thursdays, we run at 6 pm. Members gather about 10 minutes prior at the southeast corner of Sixth Avenue and Laurel Street.

Wednesday Hump Day Run Club:  Wednesdays at 6:00 pm.  Meet at 2545 El Cajon Boulevard at Milestone Running, an FRWSD partner.  (Managed by Milestone team – 3-5 miles) https://milestonerunning.com/pages/community

Saturday Runs/Walks: Meet at 6th Avenue and Laurel at 8 am for announcements and pre-run stretching. Group meets for breakfast after the run.  The informal spot is at the HUB in Hillcrest, where we support BCB Cafe, or bring coffee and food from around the area.

Alternate Location: (when a large public event conflicts with our Sixth and Laurel Saturday meet up): The War Memorial Building at the north end of the Zoo parking lot. Sunday Long Run: The Sunday schedule is developed based on training needs. Training groups meet at various points throughout the city to build mileage while enjoying the great San Diego scenery. See Facebook calendar for the current and upcoming schedule.

North County Runs: Members in North County meet Saturdays at 9 am at MaGee Park in Carlsbad: the corner of Coast Highway and Beech Street, in front of Heritage House on the south side. You’ll see us holding down the park bench just at the edge. Join us for a run or a walk, some on the beach, in beautiful Carlsbad.

Routes

Each week when we meet, members of the group decide different routes they want to tackle that day.  You may join any group you like or blaze a new trail! If you’re new to Front Runners, don’t worry – we’ll explain everything along the way, and we’ll assign someone to go along with you to ensure you don’t get lost.  

Routes & Distances

• Balboa Park Walking Route 5K:  3.1 miles in Balboa Park, along the Prado, Air & Space Museum and return via the Natural History Museum, Conservatory and Old Globe Theater back to 6th & Laurel. 

• University Route:  4 miles starting at the Bridge, along the Prado to the Fountain,  left along Park Boulevard, then left at University Avenue and left again at 6th Avenue returning to 6th and Laurel.  

• Aerospace Route:  5 miles in Balboa Park, along the Prado, Air & Space Museum, Park Boulevard, University Avenue returning along 6th Avenue

• Seaport Route:  5.5 miles headed south to downtown, along the Embarcadero by the Convention Center and back along Harbor Drive and up Laurel Street

• 10 K Balboa Park Explorer:  Marston Point, Upas Loop and then along the Prado, Air & Space Museum up to Presidents’ Way, Park Boulevard, San Diego Zoo and back via the Old Globe Theater.

• Optional Trail routes through the Prado up to Morley Fields and return for 8 km

Our Sunday routes are 5 miles – 13 miles, depending on the energy of the group.  Typically, we meet at Sunset Park on Coronado Island, Mission Bay Runners’ Restroom (Clairemont Drive), Mission Beach at Belmont Park or at Robb Field Skate Park for a run along Sunset Cliffs.  Check in with the group on Facebook Events
