Meet the 2026 Board of Directors
Hometown: Atascadero, CA (on the Central Coast!) Favorite Race: FRWSD Pride 5k and the FRNY Pride Run Favorite Running Shoe: I always have three pairs. A racing shoe which is Nike Vaporfly, a long/easy run shoe and a shorter/speedwork shoe. The last two change based off what I test out at @milestonerunning Favorite FRWSD Tradition: Dressing up for the Awards Banquet! Why did you decide to join the board? Queer space is important. I love everything Front Runners has given to me and I always want to make sure others get to experience this as well. I want to make sure folks have the best experience possible and if they don’t, hopefully they can share ideas to make us evolve and become a better club as we grow! Why did you choose the San Diego Bay and Skyline as your San Diego landmark background? Honestly, my first four choices were stolen by others, so I now realize I should have told everyone what my choice was before asking their preferences! But this view of downtown from Coronado has always been one of my favorite views of downtown. Being in downtown isn’t my favorite, but seeing it from afar is lovely.
Hometown: Lexington, SC Favorite race: FRWSD Pride 5k Favorite running shoe: Pegasus by Nike Favorite FRWSD tradition or event: Fat Ass Run and karaoke Why did you join the FRWSD Board? I want everyone to hopefully find a home and family in this group like I have. Why did you chose Museum of Us/Balboa Park as your San Diego landmark background? Balboa Park is a beautiful park and I wanted that particular view as it reminds me of the cathedral at Catholic University in DC, where I used to live.
Hometown: Mayfield, Kentucky Favorite Race: Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Favorite running shoe: Brooks Ghost Favorite FRWSD event: San Diego Pride 5K What do you plan to accomplish on the board? I plan to continue supporting the exciting growth and changes at FRWSD by helping ensure the organization remains financially strong as it keeps moving forward. Why did you chose the Botanical Building as your San Diego landmark background? I chose the Botanical Building and Lily Pond for my background photo because it’s one of my favorite spots in the park and one of Balboa Park’s most iconic landmarks.
Hometown: Wilmington, Delaware Favorite race: Caesar Rodney Half Marathon in Wilmington Favorite running shoe: I rotate; can’t commit Favorite FR tradition or event: First Friday Happy Hours Why did you join the board? I want to give back to this group that has become my chosen family Why did you chose Petco Park as your San Diego landmark background? Cities rally around their home teams. Going to PetCo Park makes this San Diegan transplant feel like a part of something bigger, like I belong; much like being a member of FRWSD
Hometown - Oxnard, CA Favorite Race - Pride 5k Favorite Running Shoe - Brooks Revel Why did you join the board? - My hopes in joining the board is to expand the running community to more individuals. To have the run club be a safe place for people to make friends and grow in the ways they need. Why did you chose the Hillcrest Sign as your San Diego landmark background? - As a gay man, Hillcrest has provided me with a safe community to live and socialize. Highlighting such a staple in the San Diego LGBTQ+ community only seemed appropriate. With Hillcrest, I truly feel all the warmth San Diego has to offer.
Hometown: Near Allentown, PA Favorite Race: Las Vegas Rock & Roll Running Shoe: Saucony Ride (to keep me squeaky) Favorite Event: Dan’s Beverage Run (Duh) Why did you join the Board? FRWSD is a community and any way that I can contribute my time to help, entertain, or make others happy in this group gives me a sense of accomplishment and purpose. Why did you chose Sunset Cliffs as your San Diego landmark background? I introduced that route to the club in 2019 and I consider it one of my “home routes”, especially working so close to Sunset Cliffs.
Hometown: Auburn, CA Favorite Race: San Diego Pride 5K! Of course! Favorite running shoe: Hoka speedgoats Why did you join the FRWSD Board? I joined the board to give back to an organization and community that has given me more than I will ever be able to repay. Why did you chose the University Heights sign as your San Diego landmark background? University Heights is the best neighborhood in San Diego! Obviously.
Hometown: Salt Lake City, Utah Favorite Race: Bi-National Half Marathon Favorite Running Shoe: Solomon Genesis - the company is based in Utah 😉 Favorite FRWSD Tradition: Surprise Drag Reveals at Karaoke Why did you join the Board? I joined the board to help grow the membership. I want to increase our numbers, but also our diversity and make sure all newbies feel welcome at frontrunners. Why did you chose the San Diego Zoo as your San Diego landmark background: I am very passionate about wildlife and conservation and I’m proud to live in a city that is home to one of the world’s greatest conservation organizations! The San Diego Zoo is globally recognized for their work saving endangered species and protecting habitats. We are lucky to have them in our own backyard!
Hometown: Cincinnati, OH Favorite Race: Pride 5K, then the Hot Chocolate 10K Favorite running shoe: Brooks Pride shoe, usually released in June each year Favorite FRWSD tradition: Debbie leading stretching, in her inimitable way! Why did you join the board? I joined the board to give back to a club I’ve been a part of for 20+ years Why did you choose Gossip Grill as your background location? I chose my background location because to my knowledge that is the only remaining lesbian bar/queer bar in town. When I first moved here, the flame was still open, and there were a few other lesbian bars around.
