2025 Pride 5K

The San Diego Pride 5K, presented by Front Runners & Walkers San Diego, is the most fun and wacky event of the summer. It’s a great way to kick off the LGBTQ Pride Parade with a healthy activity and being out in the community – and you’ll do some good for our charity partners while you’re at it!

We’ve sold out for the 4th year in a row!   Please come out to cheer! 

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE:  NO RACE DAY PICK UP.  Please arrange for pick-ups on Thu 7/17 [4 pm – 7 pm ] and Fri 7/18  [2 pm – 6:30 pm] at the LGBT Center in San Diego. 

DAY OF RACE 7/19:  New meet up at University & Richmond Streets.  VERY LIMITED Parking due to construction.  No RACE DAY BIB PICK UP.    If your chipped bib was mailed to you, you can pick up your shirt AFTER the race.     

Parking will be a challenge with construction in the area.  Please allow extra time and patience

Race Shirts and Finisher’s Medal

Every participant will receive a beautiful, top-quality, short-sleeve shirt, and a finisher’s medal.  Bib pick-up will not be available on race day.  In-person participants must pick up their bib and shirt at one of our two packet pick-up events on Thursday, July 17 or Friday, July 18.    Participants may elect to have their bib mailed for a fee during the registration process. 

Virtual participants will receive their shirt and medal by mail; mailing will occur the week of July 14 2025. We will do all we can to ensure you receive the shirt size you request.  Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee sizes, nor can we offer size exchanges.

Refunds

As this is a charity event, we are unable to offer refunds or transfers on entry fees.

Teams!

You can now register and run as a team! There’s no limit to the number of people on your team and no restrictions on gender– but you must have at least 4 to qualify for scoring; the 4 fastest times on your team will count for scoring.  Sign up with your friends and participate together!

Packet Pick-up

You may pick up your bib and registration packet  on Thursday, July 17th or Friday, July 18th.   

There is no day of Race Bib Pick up.  If you elect to have bib mailed, you will pick up your shirt on race day.

What if I can’t pick up my bib packet?

Not to worry!  You can have someone else pick up your bib number and race shirt for you. They must come with a photocopy or picture of your ID – no exceptions. 

Are you participating virtually? 

We’ll be mailing your packets out the week of July 14, 2025.  Do the happy dance when it arrives and run and walk anywhere you like and share your pics with us!  (If you are signed up virtually, we will not have your packet at Pick up)

Race Day Info: Shuttle, Gear Check & Course Support

Transportation, Directions & Parking

The race staging area is currently planned to be at University Avenue & Richmond Street in Hillcrest (near 3843 Richmond Street)

Parking will be virtually non-existent within 1/4 mile or more and there are many road closures.  If you are driving, please allow ample time due to the traffic and early road closures.

FREE SHUTTLE TO RACE START AND PARADE  RUNS FROM  7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Parking is available at the Old Naval Hospital Parking Lot located at Park Blvd and Presidents Way.  The free shuttle will transport you to/from the parking lot to parade start area. The Shuttle drop-off is at Essex and Richmond Street, one block south of University Avenue. 

Race Day Gear Check

  • You may check your gear on race morning at the Gear Check area.
  • Don’t pack valuables and keep in mind the race organizers are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Safety

  • Baby joggers are allowed, but for safety reasons will be asked to start behind all other participants.
  • Bicycles, inline skates, motorized scooters, skateboards, are not allowed. Pets are not allowed unless it’s a service animal.

Course Support

  • Restrooms: Portable restrooms will be available at the staging area.
  • Water will be available at the start, the finish and at one location on the course.
Awards, Results & Timing

Awards

  • 5K: Top 3 in each age division, male/female/non-binary.
    (12 & Under, 13-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+)
  • Every participant will receive a finisher’s medal.

Timing

The race uses chip timing. Your results will be available the day of the event and also online.

The Route

The San Diego Pride 5K is an out and back course, starting and finishing on University Ave and Richmond Street in Hillcrest. You’ll run/walk west on University following the San Diego Pride Parade route, turning south (left) on 6th Ave. You’ll then enter Balboa Park, you’ll hit the halfway turnaround point. Retrace your route back, north on 6th then east on University, and cross the finish line smiling for all the photos.

Volunteer for the Pride 5K
Support the San Diego Pride 5K by volunteering. We’re looking for volunteers to help before the event and also during the following times on race day, July 19:
  • Set-up: 5:30 – 7:30am
  • During the run/walk: 6:30 – 9:30am
  • Tear down/clean up:  9 – 11am
